#TheChris100 2021: Voter Roll Call & Honorable Mentions Part 1 (#748-700)

It's finally here. Over two months of collecting ballots has led to this moment, the start of #TheChris100 2021 countdown. If you're unfamiliar with #TheChris100, it's a ranked list of the best wrestlers of a given year, only considering in-ring work. After Sam decided not to continue doing his yearly #WDKW100 last year, I took the mantle because I like making lists and wanted a place for me and my pals to get our wrestling opinions out there, because a lot of the bigger wrestling sites overlook a lot of wrestling we like (not all wrestling we like as you'll see some very popular wrestlers at the top here).

Last year was a ton of fun as 26 voters crowned Go Shiozaki the best wrestler of 2020. This year, I took it upon myself to make it bigger and better. Instead of only allowing voters to submit top 50 lists, I expanded it to give voters a chance to submit either 50-name or 100-name ballots. About 40% of the voters submitted 100-name ballots. Here are the rules that our esteemed voters had to abide by:

1. Vote for your top 50 or 100 wrestlers based purely on their 2021 resumes
2. Any ballot that falls between 50 and 100 (e.g. a 72-name ballot) will be cut off and treated as a 50-name ballot.
3. This poll is for in-ring, bell-to-bell work only. Promo ability, drawing power, etc. should not be considered.
4. Tape date only. Any work taped in 2020 but aired in 2021 should not be considered. Work taped at the end of 2021 that airs in 2022 should be considered for this year's list, not next year's.
5. Ballots will be weighted by the method used in the past for the WDKW
1. 50-person ballots: 1st place-75 points, 2nd-65 points, 3rd-60 points, etc.
2. 100-person ballots: 1st place-125 points, 2nd-115 points, 3rd-110 points, etc.
6. I reserve the right to toss any ballots that may be jokes/trolling/different ballots sent by one person
7. Ballots will be accepted from midnight EST on Dec. 25 until midnight EST on March 1.
8. Ballots can be sent to me via Twitter DM or Google Form

My goal this year was to grow the voter number from 26 to about 35. With a few days remaining, I only had about 21 ballots and got really worried about even matching last year's total, let alone getting 35. Then in the final days of open voting there was a huge wave of votes as ballot after ballot came in, finally totaling 40. It was truly humbling to see such a big push to get ballots in before time ran out. Thank you so much; I love you all <3.
